United States

Expected

At sit-down restaurants, 15 to 20 percent of the bill is normal, and some people give more for great service. Service is usually not included, so check the bill.

India

Appreciated

Around 10 percent is common in city restaurants if no service charge is added. Restaurants can't force you to pay a service charge; you can ask for it to be removed.

Bangladesh

Appreciated

Tipping isn't expected everywhere, but a small tip is welcome in restaurants, especially if no service charge is added, and for drivers, guides and porters.
